It has one part catalogued as a free beach suitable for practicing nudism, however on the days when large numbers of people go to the beach you can find bathers of all types, with or without bathing suits.

El Carabassí also has a hammock service, a snack bar, footbaths, toilets and lifeguard vigilance.

San Pedro del Pinatar

Located in San Pedro de Pinatar, between the salt lakes filled with flamingos and the clear blue waters of the Mar Menor are these mud baths.
This is a great place to visit for all ages, whether for its health benefits or just a bit of fun!
There is a long promenade running alongside the mud baths which are clearly labelled with signage and information. From here you can use one of the many boardwalks that have steps leading into the water. You will find people from all over the world lathering up with mud collected from the water bed. It is advisable to bring a beach bucket or similar container from which you can gather up the mud and fill. Later, you apply the mud to the body and wait for it to dry.
Its therapeutic properties used since times of antiquity, have special qualities due to the surrounding salt lakes and clay deposits, that create this healing mud.
They are particulary recommended for arthritic conditions, rheumatism, broken bones and skin conditions. It also works as a beauty treatment!
The mud can have a strong odour which takes a little getting used to.
Once the mud has dried, it is to be washed off in the same mud baths from which it came (not in the mar menor sea).
Your skin will be left glowing and ready for a dip in the sea on the beach.
Locally there are padel boards, kayaks and jet skis for hire. The long beautiful beach has several beach bars, cafes and restauarants where you can enjoy the view of the boats and the sea enclosed within a mountain range. The "fried egg" jellyfish are mainly harmless and common to this area. You can admire their beautiful colouring and hypnotic movement whilst snorkeling amongst them, moving them gently out of your way by hand.
